Today was a day of track time at Donington Park for STP Motorsport. This was an opportunity to put some miles (kilometres?) on the bike before the race at Oulton Park on Monday (Holiday here in the UK). The team will be back at Donnington at the end of May, (yes another holiday :-))I will try to keep you posted over the weekend on their progress.

Marco MerendaPublic RelationTEAM FACTORY SUPERBIKEClassifica campionato CIV SBK PBR-EK4° Piazzamento M. Chris Burns followed up his free practice success on STP Motosport's MV Agusta in today's qualifying session in the British Superbike Championship finishing 14th overall and 2nd in the Cup classification. while down on power at this fas circuit Chris made full use of the damp conditions to put in an epic perormance, finishing just 2.1 seconds of pole sitter Shane Byrne and 0.6 seconds away from Superbike Cup rival John Laverty. Given the potential that has still to be tapped on the MV Agusta this result is fantastic encouragement to the team and confirms the decision to run with this historic marquee in BSB is one that will pay dividends as the season progresses. 1 Shane Byrne Airwaves Ducati 1'19.7042 Leon Haslam HM Plant Honda 1'19.8723 Michael Rutter NW200 Ducati 1'19.9494 Cal Crutchlow HM Plant Honda 1'20.0265 Karl Harris Team Yamaha 1'20.3726 Leon Camier Airwaves Ducati 1'20.4917 Adam Jenkinson SMT Honda 1'20.8428 Michael Laverty Relentless Suzuki 1'20.8589 John Laverty NW200 Ducati 1'21.20510 Sean Emmett AIM Yamaha 1'21.31611 Atsushi Watanabe Rizla Suzuki 1'21.37812 Tom Sykes Rizla Suzuki 1'21.39813 Simon Andrews Jentin Yamaha 1'21.53514 Chris Burns STP MV Agusta 1'21.80415 James Ellison Hydrex Honda 1'22.05620 Stuart Easton MSS Kawasaki 1'23.21828 Scott Smart Hawk Kawasaki 1'24.96330 Dean Ellison Co-ordit Yamaha 1'26.644Full timings can be found here

A great free practice session this morning in the wet for Chris Burns on the MV Agusta at Thuxton. Ninth overall just 1.551 seconds off provisional pole position man Karl Harris, and in first place in the Superbike Cup category . A lot of the people behind him will probably be scratching their heads at this point in time. Let's hope for a wet qualifying this afternoon. 1 Karl Harris Team Yamaha 1'19.9632 Shane Byrne Airwaves Ducati 1'19.9783 Cal Crutchlow HM Plant Honda 1'20.3004 Leon Haslam HM Plant Honda 1'20.8305 Tom Sykes Rizla Suzuki 1'20.9976 Adam Jenkinson SMT Honda 1'21.4247 Michael Rutter NW200 Ducati 1'21.4808 Billy McConnell MSS Kawasaki 1'21.4949 Chris Burns STP MV Agusta 1'21.52910 John Laverty NW200 Ducati 1'21.71611 Leon Camier Airwaves Ducati 1'21.86412 James Ellison Hydrex Honda 1'21.91113 Simon Andrews Jentin Yamaha 1'21.92114 Michael Laverty Relentless Suzuki 1'22.11615 Atsushi Watanabe Rizla Suzuki 1'23.04622 Scott Smart Hawk Kawasaki 1'25.27925 Sean Emmett AIM Yamaha 1'25.729 31 Dean Ellison Co-ordit Yamaha 1'27.629

On the back of today's performance the team is really upbeat and Chris [Burns] in particular is as happy as Larry as the saying goes. He claims he has not had this much enjoyment riding a bike for a long time and it is certainly having a positive effect on his performance on track. The weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon when qualifying takes place is for light rain. This should be an advantage for Chris on the MV as he (strangely) enjoys riding in the rain, or rather he rides quickly in the rain. The horsepower disadvantage will be less pronounced as well.

MEDIA RELEASEBurns pushes hard to take some big scalps in free practice at Thruxton Despite a distinct lack of horsepower from the MV Agusta F4 312RR of STP Motorsport rider Chris Burns put in an astonishing free practice session to finish in second place in the Superbike Cup category and 14th overall in the Superbike classification.Chris Burns finished today’s sessions .551 seconds behind Championship favourite John Laverty and 2.663 seconds away from provisional pole sitter Cal Crutchlow. The team is extremely happy with thgis performance as they were well aware that Thruxton is a pure horsepower circuit and the MV Agusta is still running about 25 – 35 horsepower down on its main competitors. This gap will be closed in the coming weeks with more development work planned. Chris Burns, Rider: “We have only been able to make minor changes to the bike since Brands Hatch,” says Chris Burns. “However, they seem to have made a big difference, the biggest of which are the 16.5 inch rear wheels from Dymag. They are making the bike handle much better into the corners and giving me much more confidence. This is rubbing off on me and I enjoying being on the bike, something I have not been able to say for a few years now.”Jon Strike, Team Principal: “To finish ahead of both Hydrex Hondas and one of the Rizla Suzukis is a real boost to the team’s confidence,” says Jon Strike STP Motorsport’s Team Principal. “There are a lot of very well funded bikes and experienced riders behind us at the moment and, while we recognise that free practice does not always tell the full story, we are elated with the results so far.” Editor’s Note:STP Motorsport would welcome any inquiries from potential partners/sponsors who may be interested in helping in its quest to take MV Agusta back to the top-flight of motorcycle racing. Or if you have any questions relating to the team, please contact Warwick Nowland at warwick.wnr@btinternet.com or Nigel Jones at nigelj@wskmarketingcommunications.com.

A Domenica prossima ragazzi!!!Tutti in rosso!!!!PIER LUIGI GUERRINIPRESIDENTE LUCA SCASSA FAN CLUB
