Interview: Italian Stallion: MV Agusta's Luca Scassa
Italian racer Luca Scassa comes to the US to race for MV Agusta this season. The 23 year-old has been a hot shoe on the European Superstock scene and now will race in AMA Superbike in 2007. The son of a policeman and an insurance agent is the favored racer of the Italian brand as they continue to work toward a World Superbike program.

"Eraldo (Ferracci) came to Italy in May to see me and how we work, and how I can ride, especially. He said to my parents that probably -- I didn't know it yet -- that he will ask me to come here (to the US)," said Scassa in Daytona on Thursday.

MV Agusta Makes US Superbike Debut at Daytona
Legendary Motorcycle Tuner Eraldo Ferracci Returns Home to Daytona International Speedway with Riders Luca Scassa and Matt Lynn on the MV Agusta

Willow Grove, PA (March 7, 2007) Team Fast by Ferracci, spearheaded by Eraldo Ferracci, anticipates giving fans at the Daytona International Speedway a thrill ride as they team up with AMA Superbike newcomer MV Agusta Motorcycles, hitting the track this week in preparation for the race, Saturday, March 10, 2007. The new alliance between these two Italian forces brings both motorcycle legends out of racing retirement. After a nine year hiatus from Superbike racing, Team Fast by Ferracci -- a 2-time AMA Superbike and 2-time World Superbike Champion -- is looking to repeat history. With 270 grand prix wins, 76 world championships, and most recently earning the title of world’s fastest production 1000cc motorcycle, MV Agusta also has tremendous race-bragging rights, further reinforcing this win-win affiliation.

"Noon Notes From Daytona"
Eraldo Ferracci makes a very welcome return to Superbike racing this weekend with his MV Agusta four-cylinder machine and riders Luca Scassa and Matt Lynn. Ferracci's crew-dressed in MV Black mind you-were plentiful and busy but fast lap times had not yet come this morning.

Judging from the body language of Scassa in the pit lane the MV is suffering from high speed stability issues.

"These not my old bikes you know," Ferracci said this afternoon. "These new bikes, not the bikes that I blow up here in December. All new. So we have some work to do. And it seems to shake a little, we need to make it straighten a little."

Scassa sat on a short stool in the garage, obviously deep in thought, only occasionally speaking with his crew, while Ferracci talked.

MV Agusta F4 R 312: The Fastest Motorbike in the World
The evolution of racing bikes is the result of many small steps. the underlying concept is never abandoned, rejected or turned upside down. It is only meticulous little changes that finally lead to perfection. It is for this very reason that the F4 has made history in the annals of sports bikes and gone on to become a legend.

The F4 of today is a symbol of this legend. The R312 where "three hundred and twelve" is the top speed. To go fast means, tests, hard work, sweat and winning on the track with all the sacrifices and dedication that calls for. With the F4 1000 R MV Agusta was the protagonist last season in the Superstock production series. Unlike others, it is style that adds to the MV machines lined up on the starting grid. More words seem hardly enough to describe the beauty and appeal of a model that, still today, leaves the competition unable to answer.

MV Agusta Planning 600cc Supersport Model
MV Agusta planning 600cc Supersport model alongside F4 1000 Superbike, also Brutale-style Naked version both designed by Massimo Tamburini.

Should the acquisition of Husqvarna by another party take place, this would enable MV Agusta to concentrate completely on future expansion of its product range. Massimo Tamburini is confirmed to be working on the design of a 600cc four-cylinder Supersport version of the F4, which while it retains a recognizable family look is not a downsized clone of the bigger bike, as with the Ducati 749/999. According to factory insiders, it was considered important that the smaller-capacity and therefore less expensive MV should be distinguishable in appearance from the more prestigious 1000cc models – though it’s certain to be another highly distinctive design by the so-called ‘motorcycling Michelangelo’. A Naked version, similar to the F4 Brutale but wearing a different name, is also planned – but the fully-faired Supersport version will appear first, and is scheduled to make its debut at the 2009 EICMA Show in Milan.
